Koma Vault Terms and Conditions

Effective date: 19 July 2026

1. Who we are

Koma Vault is provided by Koma Vault in Victoria, Australia. In these Terms, Koma Vault, we, us, and our mean the publisher of the Koma Vault app and the Koma Vault website.

These Terms apply to your use of:

  • the Koma Vault app;
  • the Koma Vault website, manual, support pages, and related documentation; and
  • any support services or pre-release builds we provide for Koma Vault.

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using Koma Vault, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Koma Vault.

If you download Koma Vault through Apple App Store, Google Play, TestFlight, Google Play testing, or another distribution platform, that platform's terms may also apply. Those platform terms apply to app delivery, payments, subscriptions, refunds, and platform account matters where relevant.

2. What Koma Vault does

Koma Vault is a local-first comic and manga reader. It is designed to help you read and manage comic archives and image-based comic EPUB files stored on your device or made available through servers you configure, such as Komga, Kavita, OPDS 1.x, OPDS 2.0 JSON, and OPDS-PSE sources.

Koma Vault does not provide comic books, manga, copyrighted reading material, server hosting, or a public content library. You are responsible for obtaining and using files, feeds, credentials, and server access lawfully.

3. Your responsibilities

You must only use Koma Vault in a lawful and responsible way. You agree that you will not:

  • use Koma Vault to infringe copyright, trade marks, moral rights, privacy rights, or any other rights;
  • connect Koma Vault to a server unless you are authorised to access that server and its content;
  • share credentials, private server URLs, access tokens, diagnostic logs, or copyrighted comic pages in public support channels;
  • attempt to bypass security, authentication, rate limits, or access controls of any server or platform;
  • upload, distribute, or transmit malware or harmful code using Koma Vault or any related service;
  • misrepresent your relationship with Koma Vault or the operators of Komga, Kavita, OPDS, or other third-party services; or
  • copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble Koma Vault except to the extent allowed by law or by applicable open-source licences.

You are responsible for keeping your device, local files, local app data, and remote server credentials secure.

4. Your files, libraries, and remote servers

Koma Vault works with files and servers that you choose. You retain your rights in your own files and library data. Koma Vault does not claim ownership of your comic files, metadata, server configuration, or reading history.

When you configure a remote source, Koma Vault connects directly from your device to that source. The remote source may receive authentication details, browse requests, search queries, page requests, thumbnail requests, download requests, and reading progress updates. We do not operate or control your remote servers unless we separately state otherwise in writing.

Remote source features depend on the remote server, network conditions, server API behaviour, credentials, and the format of the content. We do not guarantee that every server, feed, archive, EPUB, image, metadata file, or API version will work with Koma Vault.

5. Local storage, caches, and backups

Koma Vault may store library records, imported files, downloaded offline items, covers, thumbnails, reading progress, settings, server names, server URLs, credentials, caches, diagnostic settings, and diagnostic logs on your device.

Some app data and caches may be removed by you, by the operating system, or by Koma Vault maintenance features. Temporary caches are not a backup. Offline downloads are intended for convenient app use, not as a permanent archive. You are responsible for keeping your own backups of files and server data that matter to you.

6. Credentials

If you add a remote source that requires authentication, Koma Vault may store credentials or tokens locally on your device. You should only add servers you trust and should remove saved sources if you sell, lend, recycle, repair, or lose access to your device.

If you believe your credentials have been exposed, change them on the relevant remote server. Koma Vault cannot reset credentials for third-party or self-hosted servers.

7. Koma Vault intellectual property

Koma Vault, including its app design, website, manual, branding, graphics, text, and software components, is owned by us or licensed to us. You may use Koma Vault only as allowed by these Terms, the app store terms that apply to your download, and any applicable open-source licences.

Third-party names such as Komga, Kavita, OPDS, Apple, Google, Android, iOS, macOS, Windows, Linux, and other project or platform names belong to their respective owners. References to those names do not imply endorsement unless expressly stated.

Open-source and third-party software notices may be shown in the app or included with the app package. Nothing in these Terms limits rights granted to you under an applicable open-source licence.

8. Website and documentation

The website and manual are provided for general product information and support. We try to keep them accurate, but they may contain mistakes, outdated information, screenshots from development builds, or feature descriptions that differ from your installed version.

The website and manual are not legal, copyright, security, or technical advice for your specific circumstances.

9. Payments, purchases, and refunds

If Koma Vault is offered as a paid app, subscription, in-app purchase, pre-order, or paid upgrade, the relevant app store or payment provider may process the payment and administer refunds under its own terms.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified.

10. Support

We may provide support through the website, app store listing, email, issue tracker, beta channel, or another support channel we nominate. Support availability may vary by version, platform, release stage, and distribution channel.

When requesting support, do not send credentials, private server URLs, access tokens, personal IP addresses, copyrighted comic pages, or sensitive personal information unless we specifically ask for it and you are comfortable providing it through the nominated private channel.

Diagnostic logs are for troubleshooting. You are responsible for reviewing logs before sharing them, because logs may include technical details about your device, app state, configured sources, or server interactions.

11. Third-party services and platforms

Koma Vault may interact with third-party services and platforms, including app stores, operating systems, website hosting providers, GitHub Pages, Komga servers, Kavita servers, OPDS catalogues, and other user-configured sources.

Third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party content, uptime, security, API changes, data handling, support, or fees, except to the extent required by law.

12. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how Koma Vault handles privacy and data. It forms part of these Terms. You can read it at https://komavault.com/privacy.

13. Australian Consumer Law

If the Australian Consumer Law applies to your use of Koma Vault, you may have rights and remedies that cannot be excluded. Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude, restrict, or modify those rights or remedies.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, where we are allowed to limit our liability for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited to one or more of the following, at our option:

  • for goods or digital products: replacement, repair, supplying an equivalent product, or paying the cost of replacement or repair; and
  • for services: resupplying the services or paying the cost of having the services supplied again.

14. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Koma Vault is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not promise that Koma Vault will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every file or server, available on every platform, or free from data loss.

You are responsible for deciding whether Koma Vault is suitable for your files, servers, devices, security needs, and legal obligations.

15. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, content, files, credentials, server access, business opportunity, or data, arising from or connected with Koma Vault.

This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including non-excludable rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

16. Suspending or ending access

You may stop using Koma Vault at any time. You can delete local app data using in-app features where available, by removing saved sources and downloads, clearing caches, or uninstalling the app.

We may suspend or stop providing website access, support, beta access, or related services if you breach these Terms, create security or legal risk, misuse support channels, or if we discontinue a service. We will act reasonably where consumer laws require us to do so.

17. Changes to Koma Vault and these Terms

We may update Koma Vault, the website, the manual, and these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes to these Terms, we will update the effective date and publish the revised Terms on the website or in another appropriate place.

Changes apply from the date they are published unless we state otherwise. Your continued use of Koma Vault after changes are published means you accept the revised Terms.

18. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. The parties submit to the courts of Victoria, Australia, and any courts that may hear appeals from those courts.
